GRADES 9-12 - Physical Science Jeremy Noonan -
GRADES 9-12 - Math Lesli O’Neill - Although born, raised and educated in Idaho, Lesli has been a resident of Georgia for 15 years. She received her Bachelors of Science degree in Elementary Education (emphasis in mathematics and humanities) from Idaho State University and has taught off and on for the past 21 years in every grade, K-8, except second. How did she miss second grade?
Her husband and her celebrated their 19th wedding anniversary in October; they have three girls: Jessica, 25; Alex, 17; and Kate, 13. Jessica, who graducated from Kennesaw State University with a degree in Communications, lives in Kennesaw; Alex is a senior this year at East Coweta High School; Kat is an 8th grader at Lee Middle School.
Lesli’s favorite subject, both to learn and teach is math/algebra. She struggles with mathematics during junior high (middle school), experiencing what many young people do in math: the ‘I-don’t-get-it’ blues! She persevered and worked very hard and heard an audible ‘click’ when the math light bulb went on during her College algebra and Trig class. It was amazing! She had finally crossed over into that abstract understanding of algebra. She feels that every student will eventually experience that ‘click’, also! They are all different and they learn at different paces. That knowledge is how she gears her classes and designs the pace of teaching.
Lesli is excited for the experience of teaching with the Veritas Classical School this year.
